Meet the team

We have a team of ministry leaders who oversee the running
of different aspects of church life.

Maki - Minister

Having encountered the good news of Jesus through the faithful work of missionaries to his country of birth, Albania, Maki had a call to ministry since his teens. Meeting Ruth in Albania as a missionary they served together until returning to UK in 2009. Maki studied at Bristol Baptist college, starting at Cairns as a minister in training in Sep 2010. He was appointed as full-time minister and team leader in July 2013 and together with Ruth and their three children lives in Westbury Park.
His passion is for people to encounter the transforming gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His focus is on building up a community of wholehearted disciples of Jesus whose lives have been changed, restored and released to reach others with the message of the Good News of the Kingdom.
He says: "The good news of Jesus is the best news you will ever hear. If you would like to know, understand and connect with our amazing God who has created you, loves you and invites you to a life of adventure with Him- then I would love to chat with you.”

 

Jonty - Youth Pastor

Jonty joined Cairns as a young person with his parents and loved the Youth Work during his teenage years. He started volunteering on the Youth Team as a young person and later felt God's call into Youth Work professionally, studying Youth Work at university. Although he didn't see this being within church ministry initially, and having worked across a number of different youth work roles in Bristol, Jonty said yes to God's call to working at Cairns in 2016 and has been full time Youth Pastor since 2022. He is passionate about seeing young people transformed by Jesus, grow in their love for God and encouraged to share the Good News with others. Jonty is married to Abi with two wonderful children, and loves playing/watching sport in his spare time.

 

Debs - Children's Ministry Leader

Debs is the Children’s worker and a previous Primary School teacher. She heads up the Sunday children’s groups and in planning the all-age Bible Panorama events. She’s passionate about helping children understand the message of hope given in the Bible; and seeing how this works out in the lives of his people. She’s also a mum of two and a flower farmer growing flowers for weddings and events in the rest of her week.

 

Jennifer - Weekdays & Noah's Ark Outreach Coordinator

Jennifer is the pre-school outreach co-ordinator for Cairns Road. This involves running events such as our Thursday group (Stay and Play) and Saturday group (@Oh_Happy_Play) as well as making events in the Christian calendar accessible to this age group. Her  role also includes being a chaplain to Noah’s Ark pre-school and providing pastoral support for young families. As a GP and mum of two, there's not much she hasn't seen professionally or experienced personally, so please do reach out! To find out more email community@cairnsroad.org

 

Karen - Church Administrator

Karen is the first port of call if you have questions about the day-to-day life of the church. She oversees the administrative tasks that keep the church running like keeping everyone up to date with all that is going on and preparing agendas & taking minutes of the various different church meetings. She has responsibility for organising both staff and volunteer DBS checks and safeguarding training. Karen is also responsible hall bookings. When she is not at Cairns she enjoys walking in the countryside, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her husband and their grown-up children! Karen works Monday - Thursday and can be contacted by emailing the office@cairnsroad.org

 

Brian - Bookkeeping, Finance and Buildings Administrator

After a long career in IT, Brian moved to a part time role at Cairns Road in 2023.

Brian records all things financial and liaises with the Treasurer regarding the accounts.

He also gets involved with various building maintenance issues in the church building and to look after any Health and Safety issues.

 

Kasper - Caretaker

Kasper is responsible for the routine cleaning and maintenance of our church building. He is an active member of our church building and manse maintenance teams.

 

Sophie - Noah's Ark Preschool Practice Manager

Sophie is passionate about providing the best start to all children in their early years and loves having the opportunity to nurture this journey with the many families at Noah’s Ark Pre-school. Sophie loves the opportunity to gently share Jesus practically with these families.
She is married with three boys (and a dog!) who regularly challenge her to stay fit and so she loves being outdoors and cycling with friends.

 

Jane - Noah's Ark Preschool Practice Manager

Jane has been involved with Noah's Ark for many years, first as a parent and then as a member of the staff team since 2002! She loves working with young children and their families, helping to support them in whatever way she can, working closely with the wider ministry team at Cairns Road. Jane is married to Steve and has 3 grown up children. Outside of work she loves to be in her garden, reading a good book or going for a walk.
